Type: Photography and art direction
Product: Neo
Client: Paulin

It was the middle of lockdown when we launched the Paulin Neo, so when composing photographs I had few props to work with other than bits and bobs I happened to have lying around the house. I spent a few days creating visual compositions using a mixture of my 6-month-old's beechwood building blocks and material samples left over from a kitchen refit.

The final compositions take cues from the geometric forms on the product, whilst the closer in shots experiment with a shallow depth of field - not my usual approach with product photography, but something I was forced to experiment with owing to not having access to the full gamut of lighting and lenses.

The end result is among my favourite photoshoots for Paulin. Counterintuitively the creative restrictions imposed by lockdown were in many ways the source of inspiration.
